I keep hearing people saying " why doesn't somebody do something?" My question is why aren't we all doing something? One thing I do that we can all do is engage as many people that we can in the taboo subject of politics. Now I am not looking for an argument or a fight. I simply mention anything in the news to see where someone stands, then I make a decision to drop it or engage. First, I am looking for like minded people that have the same reaction to that news item. Next, I determine their voting status, I just flat out ask them. You would be surprised how many people I find that did not vote or are not registered to vote. Either way they are usually pretty regretful given the current political situation. The I should have voted but didn't just need a please don't do that again. However, the I'm not registered to vote may take a little more effort. Now I don't have a lot of time to waste jabber jawing so I just ask them to get registered ASAP, to vote in the primary and general election. I also throw in that politics affects every aspect of their life such as salary, vacations, health care... and not just for them but their entire family. You know I usually receive a thank you and I never thought about that. Sometimes I get the negative all politicians are corrupt which is not true, it's most not all. My answer to that is you gotta vote in the primary to get the best candidate and of course in the general election. Now with gerrymandering and the attack on the Voters Right Act It is more important than ever to get more of the unregistered voters online. So please break that cardinal rule and talk politics with anyone and everyone who agrees with you. When Republicans did all this gerrymandering they did it by the current voter rolls but we can spike the punch by adding new voters to the mix!
